Boone County, Iowa is seeking a GIS Coordinator to oversee the development, use, maintenance, and support of geospatial technologies throughout Boone County. Under the direction of the Boone County IT Administrator, the successful applicant will coordinate and perform GIS functions and activities throughout the county, and represent the county at the regional and State level.
Minimum job qualifications include general computer operating system knowledge, ability to communicate effectively in both a written and verbal contexts, ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate physical and human resources, and the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues. The candidate must be proficient in the use of ESRI technologies and have a thorough understanding of GIS administration, system integration, database functionality and spatial data presentation.
Requires a degree from an accredited two- or four-year college or university in one or more of the following disciplines or closely related area of study: Computer Science or Systems, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a GIS certificate and a degree in geography/cartography, planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering. In lieu of a degree in one of the above disciplines, a minimum of 2-3 years related on-the-job experience in the design, development, implementation, and administration of a GIS system may be considered. Also, any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be considered. Preference will be given to regional (from Iowa and the surrounding states) candidates.
Salary range is $40,000 - $52,500 depending on experience and qualifications.
